Tu-Bishvat ~ The Unique Holiday Of Israel

"The winter is past, the rain is over and gone... the fig tree puts forth figs, and the vines give a good smell. Arise and come away, for sweet is your voice and comely is your countenance."  Song of Songs 2:11-14

Traditionally, Tu Bishvat is the New year of the Trees in Israel, and it is celebrated by planting trees throughout the country. On this day all Israel prays Yahveh's blessing over various species of fruits and nuts, to produce more bounty.

What is the significance of Tu-Bishvat?

The Tu-Bishvat blessings encompass two main categories: Necessities, like bread and water, and Luxury Foods, with which we could live without but make life so enjoyable. The 15th day of the month of Shevat is known as Tu-Bishvat, and is celebrated with the abundance of special fruits and nuts to remind us that Yahveh created everything for our enjoyment, and to bless Him for the many ways He gave us to enjoy His World.

Seeing the trees starting to get ready for a new season, we too can see ourselves and others in that vein. Even when things around us look barren or producing little, we remember that the potential is there and give Yahveh Yashua thanks for the increase.

Today, make time to celebrate the start of a new season in your personal life ~ It's time to start producing again.
