Called to Be A Guardian

"And the Children of Israel shall guard the Sabbath, to make the Sabbath throughout their generations, an eternal covenant." Exodus 31:16

The Shabbat was introduce in Genesis 2:2-3 and was given as a special blessing, a gift from Yahveh, to all mankind. The faithful few kept it as a Holy Day, weekly, but the rest, who had no regard for Holy Things did "what was pleasing in their own eyes" rather than what was "pleasing to Yahveh". So, by the time Moses came on the scene, Yahveh saw fit to appoint a select group of people, to "guard the Shabbat", that it might not become "extinct" - completely forgotten. Why was it so important to Yahveh that we "Remember" to "guard, keep, preserve and observe" the Shabbat Day, and especially, on a weekly basis? What difference does it make anyway?  Why should He care if we rest or not, and on what day we rest, and weekly? Who ever heard of a "picky" (and legalistic) God like this one!  That's the "God of the Old Testament" I hear you say.  Our God is a loving God.  He looks on the heart, doesn't He?

The answers to these questions are really THE FOUNDATION, THE BASIS OF OUR FAITH. Why do I say that?

"And the Children of Israel shall guard the Sabbath, to make the Sabbath throughout their generations, an eternal covenant."  Exodus 31:16

Once the people were selected for their "new job", and were given their instructions, it became clear to them that The Shabbat is much more than just a day of rest, or one day out of seven to do as they wish.  It is to be a Special Day, with Eternal Value and Blessings, to all who observe to keep it, just the way "it is written"

"Throughout their generations".  How long will this be? As long as the children of Israel (the Jews) continue to exist.  And how long will this be?  For ever - Isaiah 66:23 Yes, even in the New Earth we will be required to guard, (keep and observe) the Sabbath Days, all of us, all flesh!

Now we understand why Satan is trying so hard to destroy the Jews. He hates YHVH, he hates His Commandments and most of all, he hates the "Guardians and Keepers" of YHVH's Laws that make one "Wise Unto Salvation."

Why is it so important for all of us to keep the seventh day (Shabbat Day) each week, instead of the first day of the week, for example (Sunday)?

Genesis 2:2-3, the first referance to the Shabbat of Yahveh, tells us why. Here Yahveh established the fact that HE alone (and no other god or process such as evolution), created and made everything in six days, in the begining. That makes HIM superior, El Elyon, and gives HIM full rights and control over His creation. YHVH is superior, we are his subordinates. He alone is in charge of what belongs to HIM. That also make HIS creation, which includes all men, responsible and accountable to HIM. HE IS THE BOSS, HE IS A GOOD AND RIGHTEOUS BOSS, HE LOVES US, AND EVERYTHING HE ASKS US TO DO IS FOR OUR OWN GOOD AND BENEFIT, AND FOR HIS GLORY.  In turn we do what HE asks of us, out of respect and love. "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." (John 14:15 , I John 5:23)

Guarding, keeping and obseving the Shabbat Commandment (the 4th commandment - Exodus 20:8-11) on the seventh day, as we are told, helps us remember the Miracle Of Creation and our Creator, week after week. It also opens a door of opportunity for us to give answer to those who ask us "why are you different from us, why do you keep the Sabbath day holy and not Sunday... " and thus lead them to THE LORD OF THE SHABBAT, YASHUA, WHO HAS BECOME OUR SALVATION.

But, you say, I can talk to my friends about Yahveh every day, can't I?

Sure you can and you ought to. "Always be ready to give an answer... " . But would you be able to explain how, even though He is called THE LORD OF THE SABBATH, you can decide to worship Him on another day? A day of your choosings, and against HIS?  Thus changing Him to be a Lord of Sunday, naming Him after your "special day" of rest?  But that title had already been given to someone else - another god - it's the Sun god's Day, like Monday being the Moon god's Day, and so on.  The gentiles named "their" days after "their" gods a long time ago. The difference between Yahveh Worshippers and all other worshippers is the object of our worship. We worship THE CREATOR, on His special day, The Shabbat, while they worship the creation - the sun on sunday, the moon on moonday, even changed the "Sabbath Day" to "saturn's day", (Romans 1:25) and try to cause Yahveh's people to forget what Yahveh commanded us to "remember." (Exodus 20:8-11)

Remember?  Remember what?  Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep IT holy.  The holiness of the seventh / Sabbath day is without dispute. Yahveh "blessed it, sanctified it and made it holy." (Genesis 2:3 and Exodus 20:11)

Let us never forget that "to obey is better than sacrifice."

Let us be GUARDIANS OF HIS SABBATHS!!!

Let us be On Guard.

Let all flesh come together to worship THE LORD OF THE SABBATH ON HIS SABBATH DAYS.  (Isaiah 66:23)

And... From week to week, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, MAY THE NAME OF OUR YAHVEH BE PRAISED FOREVER MORE. AMEN !
