Pesach Sheni - Second Passover falls on the 14th of Iyar (14th of the second month in the Biblical calander),
one month after the original Passover.
What makes this festival so special that YHVH gave us a "make-up" date, a second chance, in the event we were
unable to keep it on Passover?
The Passover offering - Korban Pesach, carries with it such great significance, even for today, which, if
we knew it's true meaning, we would never want to miss it, not for any reason. It is the means by which the Israelites of
old were saved from certain (physical) death, and we, the "Israelites" of today, are saved from certain (spiritual) death,
because of the sacrifice of a lamb, The Perfect Lamb Of YHVH.
In the book of Numbers 9:4-14 we read about a group of people who were not able to take part in the Passover
Sacrifice because they were ritually "unclean" from being in contact with a corps. Moses inquired of YHVH on their behalf,
and received the laws of the Second Pesach for those who missed it through no fault of their own. Our YHVH desires that "none
perish but that all should come to repentance" II Peter 3:9 Because of the significance of the Passover Sacrifice, knowing
that YASHUA will some day offer Himself as That Perfect Passover Sacrifice, YHVH made provision in His Perfect Law, for that
Second Sacrifice to be reserved as a type, for Messiah Yashua, who came to fulfill the Law. At the same, time YHVH wanted
everyone to have the opportunity to demonstrate their belief in that special sacrifice made for them personally. Therefore,
those who were unable to bring the Passover offering (the lamb) on the 14th of the first month could still keep their special
day ('date') with YHVH a month later, and still recieve the blessings reserved especially for them.
The offerings brought on the second date, though serving the same purpose, were different in some ways. On
Pesach Sheni (Second Passover) the people were permitted to eat Leavened bread in their homes, the laws of Unlevened Bread
not applying here, which is another evidence of the complete distinction between The Passover and the seven day feast of Unleavened
Bread. However, the Sacrifice itself , as on the First Pesach, was to be the same, unblemished lamb, boiled, and was to be
eaten with Matzah and Maror (bitter herbs), and no meat could be left over and the bones of the offering could not be broken.
YHVH is thus keeping the type of the sacrifice unchanged -- Messiah, the same, yesterday today and forever, Amen!
Pesach Sheni is a Day Of Rejoicing for all those who accept that special "Second Chance". And all that
just because "YHVH is not willing that any should perish... "
I pray we all had the Miracle of Passover made personally real in our lives by now, and if we're not sure,
we can have a "second chance", even a 'make-up' date with The Savior - Mashiach Yashua. Keep your "Appointed Time" with Him
and be an Israelite Indeed!
Remember... "broken appointments turn into unwelcomed disappointments". Don't let that
happen to you!
One in The Spirit, One in His Love,
Showers of Blessings, And Peace from Above,
To all who Obey, and are filled with His Love!
